Get Your Walking Shoes Ready!
Passavant Memorial Homes is participating in the sixth annual Walk for a Healthy Community presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
The Walk for a Healthy Community is a fundraiser that benefits 37 local nonprofit health and human services agencies in southwestern Pennsylvania. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield underwrites the cost of the walk so that 100% of the money raised by our walkers goes directly to support our mission to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Annual Golf Outing
The Annual Golf Outing is Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation’s primary fundraising event. It is a very special activity as it provides an opportunity for camaraderie with individuals who share a commitment to providing quality supports, choice and independence for people with disabilities.
The 16th Annual Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2008 at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. Last year’s event was a tremendous success and we look forward to building upon this success for the coming year through your continued involvement and support. Please join with us as we embark upon a new fundraising project! Download the sponsorship/entry flyer and learn how you can get involved!
2008 Fundraising Initiative: As we have done in the past, proceeds from the Golf Outing will be earmarked toward a special project. At a recent meeting, Passavant’s Board of Directors designated Accessible Dental Services as the focus of the 2008 Fundraising Initiative. Accessible Dental Services is a new venture offered by Passavant to provide affordable, quality dental care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Fruth Chapel Window Update: Work began this past fall to restore and renovate the stained glass windows in the historic Fruth Chapel located on Passavant’s Rochester campus. The windows have been carefully removed from the building and the painstaking process of cleaning, repairing and preserving them is moving forward. The anticipated completion date for this project is summer 2008, at which time we’ll host an open house to unveil the results.
Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship
The Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship was established in 1997 in memory of Jamie Ellenberger, a member of Passavant’s residential community whose untimely passing saddened all who knew him. Through the award, Jamie is remembered as an example of determination and motivation to local students and the community. The award is presented to local graduating high school seniors in good academic standing who plan to further their education in a two to four year post high school program. Candidates must submit a completed application form, write an essay in answer to a presented question, and participate in an interview with the Scholarship Review Committee.
Run for Fun
Run for Fun is an annual event held in partnership with the Rochester Area School District. The event was established as an effort to help broaden student awareness about people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade run or walk in support of individuals with disabilities. More than 50 students registered for the 2007 event, with prizes awarded for first, second and third places in each grade level.
For more information about any of these activities, please call us at (412) 820-1010 or email Brenda Wyman at bwyman@passavant.com. |
