Our commitment to quality includes a strong compliance history; an active family advocacy network; a commitment to consumer, family and staff satisfaction; and a restraint-free philosophy. Passavant understands that quality is a work in progress; thus we will continue to be innovative and committed to an ongoing process of improvement.
Passavant’s Steps to Quality
Quality Management = Quality Assurance + Quality Improvement.
Quality Management is most simply described as a Plan-Do-Check-Act process. This process enables staff to collect relevant information, organize and analyze data, report on trends and take appropriate action to address and identify needs. It is an inclusive process utilizing input from consumers, family members, guardians and staff.
Participatory Management
Participatory Management is an organizational philosophy emphasizing that all staff have input and influence over the decisions that affect Passavant and its consumers. Staff are actively sought out and encouraged to provide observations, analysis, suggestions and recommendations. Participatory Management promotes teamwork, ownership, respect and leadership, and provides a system through which all voices can be heard.
Family and Staff Relations
Passavant’s commitment to quality and consumer satisfaction can only be achieved if there is an open forum for discussion, involvement and interaction between families, guardians, friends and staff. To facilitate this, Passavant offers numerous opportunities, including:
• The Family Advocacy Network (FAN),
• Regional Family Meetings,
• Staff Incentive Program and
• CEO Luncheons
Staff Development
Passavant provides a required training program to all new employees where they receive an introduction to Passavant Memorial Homes, training on policies and procedures, programming and topics related to specific job functions. Staff are also certified in First Aid and CPR and participate in a training for certification in medication administration. Staff then complete on-the-job training at their particular worksite prior to becoming fully active employees. Throughout the year, staff participate in ongoing education activities to remain updated, learn best practices and increase their knowledge base. Passavant also partners with peer organizations and other entities to provide relevant trainings.
Community Partnerships
To give back to those who so generously support Passavant’s mission, various community networking activities were established, such as the Run for Fun, the Annual Golf Outing, Lunch with a Friend, the Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship Fund, Highway Clean Ups, the Lock Up event, and the Walk for a Healthy Community.
